Hi friends! By now, I've given you a few pages using the new Altenew coloring books, but today, we're going to try out the 'no-line' image.
I recently purchased some Daniel Smith watercolors and wanted to try them out! I'm certainly no expert, but I do like coloring, and wanted to get the feel of the colors.
The coloring book takes all the stress away from selecting the right stamp, positioning, and using your own watercolor card stock. I love these little books, and feel they are incredible value for money.
Materials:
The best way to start with a new product, is to start. And that's exactly what I did. Is it perfect? Nope, and that's ok. I did take some lessons away, and enjoyed the process, so was a positive crafty session.
1. Carefully tear out the image you want, and trim to size, my image was trimmed 5.25" x 4".
2. Watercolor the florals first. Lay down the lightest shade, then add darker colors and build up shadows. Do the same with the leaves, and branches.
3. Once dry, add a light wash of color around the edge of the image and pull out as far as possible, until you only have clean water.
4. Add splatter, the same purple, and green DS colors, plus some white acrylic ink.
5. Stamp out the sentiment onto white card, and trim.
6. Mount panel onto an A2 card base, add sentiment and a few sequins.
I need to work on my control and color saturation, but think it turned out ok! I love using wet mediums, and will be doing a lot more watercoloring in the future.
