Hello there, it is Verity here from Pretty Little Button for the Bumbleberry Design team. The Paint your world collection from Spellbinders is the ultimate collection for the artist within you. I've had fun creating this messy, but pretty, painters palette and use the Painter's Palette die set to create a shape card. And the background is so easy to make, simply smooshing ink to create paint splatter.
Written and photos Ink smooshing to create a paint palette:
Smoosh Chiffon and Catching Rays ink pads down onto a glass mat and spritz it water. Repeatedly press a piece of watercolour cardstock down into the spritz ink to transfer to the colour. Use a heat gun to dry the ink. Repeat this with Do-si-do and Pucker Up inks and dry again. Then repeat this with Cummerbund and In The Parnk inks before drying and then repeating it once more with Serenade and Drive-in inks.
Once the whole panel is dry use the palette die from the Painters Palette die set to die-cut out of the inked background. In addition, die-cut this palette die one more time but out of white card. With this white palette die-cut, score ½” from the top of the die-cut and fold at this score line. Add double-sided tape above the score line and the adhere the inked palette die-cut over the top to create a card base.
Die-cut 5 brush handles from the Painters Palette die set out of cream coloured cardstock. Using a blend brush apply brown ink to one side of the handles to create depth and shadow to your brush handles. Die-cut the paint brush ends from the Painter’s palette die set and using a alcohol maker that matches the colours used on the painter palette, colour the end of the bristles. To make the brushes look like they are wet, add some Morning Dew Nuvo Crystal drops over the top.
To finish the brushes off, die-cut the metal band on the brush out of gold mirror cardstock and adhere over the ends of the brushes to seal the bristles in.
Heat emboss a sentiment from the Paint Your World Sentiments stamp set in gold embossing powder and trim this strip down adding a banner tail to one end before adding this to the paint palette. Lastly, adhere the paint brushes to the front, inserting one through the whole in the palette. Finish the card off with some colour corresponding sequin discs.
