Hello there, it is Verity here from Pretty Little Button for the Bumbleberry Design team. I'm longing for beautiful colour flowers to spring up outside, but whilst I'm waiting I decided to create this vivid blue floral card using the Mama Elephant 'Pretty Lovely' stamp set. For the project, I have used masking stamping with heat embossing to create a one layer panel for my card. I can't quite say one layered card as I did foam mount my panel onto the card base, but this has hardly any dimension for me really. If you haven't use Zig Clean Colour Real Brush markers before, I really recommend them as they are so vivid and bright. This card will definitely cheer someone up when they get it in the post! To start off, position a piece of Distress watercolour cardstock in your stamping platform – You can use any watercolour cardstock, however this pairs well with a Neenah Classic Crest Solar white card base. I treated the paper with an anti-static bag to reduce any moisture on my cardstock and stamped the main flower from the stamp set in Clear ultra slowing drying embossing pad from WOW! This was stamped a couple of times due to the texture of the paper.

After the first image was stamped, cover the panel with embossing powder – I choose WOW! Metallic Gold Rich Pale embossing powder – but your choice is endless with all the colours out there. Before returning the panel back to your stamping platform, heat set the powder. Once it is heat set, stamp another image onto your panel where you desire. You can use acrylic blocks if you prefer, the stamping platform just allows me to stamp it a couple of times to get good coverage on textured cardstock.

Cover with the powder again, but before you heat set you can remove any powder where it overlaps your first image. To remove this, just use a brush to brush the powder away. When you stamped image looks right with no overlapping you can then heat set it again. Keep repeating this step until you have stamped out your full design. Remember the more you add around the main images, the less you will see of the newly stamped image. This process can be much quicker and easier when it comes to stamping intricate images such as these compared to use and fussy cutting out masking paper.

Once the design is embossed you are ready to colour it in. For this card, I used a selection of blue and green Zig Clean Colour real brush markers and water brush. These pens blend beautiful and so easily on Distress watercolour paper. At times I used the water brush to dilute the colour or pull the colour out along a petal.

For a little more depth and dimension, I added a soft grey shadow outline around the whole design to lift the stamped images from the white background. For added interest, I splatter black paint over the background.

To add a sentiment, I used the hello from My Favourite Thins hello and love you die set. At first, I planned to add a white layered die cut to the front panel. However, when I placed the white sentiment over the panel it didn’t quite pop. So, instead, to help it stand out more, I added a black layer to the top.

To finish the card, I used a selection of blue tone sequins of varying sizes around the card and use Gina K Connect glue to adhere these down.
