It has only been in the last 3-4 years where I have focused on paper crafts and card making. I started my own personal blog Pretty Little Button to showcase my makes and to inspire others. But enough about me, you are here for the cards!
When it comes to Christmas I’m not a huge lover of the traditional colour scheme of red and green. Therefore, I wanted to create a Christmas card or two with a different colour scheme that still shows elegance and a sense of occasion that Christmas is known for. So, read on to see how these two cards came together.
Alternative colours for Christmas card details:
To start off you need to set up your Concord & 9th Snowflakes turnabout. To do this, line your stamp up over the design on the back of the packaging. On the back side of the stamp, draw the cross seen on the back of the packaging. This will not ruin your stamp. If you are unsure how to do this, check out YouTube – Jennifer McGuire does a good video on this!
Next, create a 6” square template with lines drawn connecting each corner, mimic that of your stamp. Place a piece of Black Liquorice Lawn Fawn cardstock cut to 6” square down on your template in a stamp position with temporary adhesive.
Apply an anti-static bag over the card and stamp in versamark ink. Cover with WOW! Copper embossing powder and heat set. Rotate the cardstock clockwise once in your stamp positioner and stamp once more. Cover in Silver embossing powder and heat set. Repeat this once more to stamp and set in Rose gold embossing powder.
When you background panel is complete, trim down to a card base size. Cut a circle out of the panel with a circle die and from this circle offcut from the background panel, die cut the Merry Sugar Script die form Birch Press. In addition, die cut another ‘Merry’ from black foam, and apply the card ‘Merry’ on top with Multi-medium Matte adhesive. Apply the background panel to a white card base with a small white border around the edge.
Using pigment in, stamp a few small stars from the Snowflakes Turnabout stamp set into the middle of the circle, before adhering the ‘Merry’ to the front. Finish off with an embossed Christmas sentiment from Simple Winter sentiments – Lawn fawn added onto the card.
For the second card, foam mount the circle ‘merry’ negative die onto a white card panel, adding a few silver stamp stars across the card. Add a stamped ‘Christmas’ sentiment, foaming mounting this on to the card panel. Lastly, foam mount the whole panel onto a white card base.
You can stretch your backgrounds with die cutting and using both the negative and positive parts to create two cards. I hope you enjoyed this card and as inspired you to use alternative colours this Christmas.
